The Hawkesbury Story:

A Heritage of Exquisite Fashion

The Vanderplank name is synonymous with exquisite craftsmanship and a passion for fashion. Our story stretches back centuries, beginning with highly skilled textile makers from Holland who settled in England during the 1700s. Their expertise was so sought after that they were employed by the Royal household. The love of fashion continued down through the generations.

In the early 1900s, my great-grandfather and his siblings apprenticed at the prestigious Harrods of London, honing their skills in millinery, dressmaking, and tailoring. This expertise led them to open "Vanderplanks of Cheltenham," a boutique in the heart of the city, catering to the sartorial needs of fashionable women.

Innovation in fashion also played a role in my Irish heritage. After World War II, my grandfather and his brother were textile pioneers, bringing American style jeans and denim clothing to Ireland and the UK for the very first time. This entrepreneurial spirit continued with my grandparents opening  a children's clothing store in the heart of Clifton, Bristol.

Today, the legacy lives on. Hawkesbury.

This is my tribute to my heritage. I focus on designing beautiful, handcrafted clothing that embodies timeless elegance and slow fashion principles. Here in my cosy  Hampshire studio, the creative process unfolds. Crafting clothing that is designed to be treasured  staples in your wardrobe for years to come. Explore the world of  Hawkesbury and discover a passion for fashion that has spanned generations.
